Yahoo Web Hosting Review: A Quick Glance at Yahoo Web Hosting Services
April 26th, 2007
Yahoo.com is one of the fastest growing web hosting services on the net. It’s become popular with the small business industry because of the ecommerce features offered with the hosting plans. Included with your site, you get a Yahoo ecommerce store and exclusive online marketing discounts to promote your business through the Yahoo network, the largest online network in the world. Hosting through Yahoo can save you a lot of money in advertising, since you’ll be using Yahoo’s built-in marketing system.
Another feature that makes this host attractive is Yahoo’s web site builder, which provides over 350 professionally designed templates and 3400 graphics. This site builder is perfect for the novice web designer, with their simple, user-friendly interface. Yahoo guides you through the setup process step by step, and allows you to add and format your own logos, photos and text to a professional created template. Yahoo also caters to the more experienced web designer, supporting web design applications such as Microsoft FrontPage and Adobe Dreamweaver.
Yahoo’s rates are a little on the high end, but that doesn’t seem to have deterred anyone yet, as the benefits definitely outweigh the cost. The starter plan is $8.96 per month with no annual contract and you can upgrade at any time. There’s no setup fee, and you get 5 gigabytes of disk space, 200 gigabytes of data transfer, 200 email addresses, a free domain name, 24 hour customer support, and website management tools.
This is ideal for a small business getting their first website. For individuals who want something simple, Yahoo offers a free solution. Yahoo! Geocities hosts your site for free, giving you a sub domain. No matter who you are or what you need, Yahoo.com has the resources and the pricing to accommodate you.

Yahoos $1.99 domain name registration was making me think twice. As far us my understanding is there Yahoo is charging this for only One year and you cant transfer the domain to other registration sites. In that case one doesnt have the flexibility to choose and have to settle down for whatever Yahoo charge afterwords.

Saumendra,
I’m pretty sure you can transfer those domain names to another hosting company after your first year. I’ve had hosting with Yaho before and registered domain names with them and was able to successfully transfer them.
With that said, I would always recommend that you keep your domain name and hosting separate to prevent problems like that (no matter the host). Free domain names are nice add-ons for hosting, but usually are more costly in subseqent years than you would pay at a domain name provider like GoDaddy or Namecheap.
