PopUps Pal or Enemy?

You’ve made the decision that you would like to learn about something, so you do a Google search. You then choose one of several results that Google offers and click on it. Then, if the site loads, you get a shock. Rather than getting to dig in the content that you’d been hoping to see so that you can keep on learning about your chosen subject, you are given a big giant pop up ad. The pop-up is an annoying ad and no matter how many times you try to close it, it won’t go away–unless you offer it your e-mail address. Eventually you may close down your browser totally because you get so agitated. The manager of that website has gotten the better of you!
There is a good rationale that many people detest pop ups. They’re frustrating. They intrude on what you happen to be trying to do. When they play audio or other sounds automatically they get you in trouble in the office or with the people in your family who are also in the room. They make insane promises. They need that you enter in sensitive information into them if you want them to close. Some of them sometimes put in malware and cookies into your personal machine. There are very few people who really enjoy being confronted by these frustrating things and yet, so many Internet Marketers use them. How come?
The sorry and basic truth is that Internet Marketers use pop up ads because they work. They get the readers focus. They help IMers build their e-mail advertising and marketing directories. It has been proven many times that you will definitely not get as great a result with a voluntary opt-in box on your sidebar or even into the primary content of your site as you do with a pop up. They have sometimes been known to help you generate sales. Sadly, these types of annoying irritating web pests get the job done and, until somebody can come up with something better, most Internet Marketers are going to keep using them.
Of course, that doesn’t mean that a lot of Internet Marketers should continue to use them. What is the actual value of an e-mail address that you have only picked up through force? Most of the time that particular person will choose to opt out of your list once they collect their first e-mail. Can your traffic be of prime quality when most of it clicks out of your site because they are offended by the pop ups assaulting them? Of course you need to generate profits but really–is that the only strategy to do it? Can’t there be another selection available to folks who want to create e-mail lists and sell products?
The truth is just this: if you have a good item, you aren’t going to need a pop up if you can present that product well. Work hard at setting up a good product so that you won’t have to deal with the irritating pop ups to do your job for you. Write a persuasive sales page or splash page. Catch the reader’s focus and then refuse to give it back over the power of your written content and copy. The truth is that a web Marketer will only find accomplishment and profit online if he or she creates something that someone else finds valuable. No pop-up ad can be substituted to disguise the lack of value in a product.
